I may not know about anyone else but disappearing into the thin air does it for me.
The type of adulthood that's in the air right now is not the one you decide to do a marathon with. If you do not wait to catch your breath, you might lose your mind.
So, even if you are looking to ask me where I have been, I really don't know myself but I have been eating pasta, commuting Iyana ipaja to Yaba and viceversa 2 days every week, soaking myself in the weekly twitter gists, doing big sister duties like no man's business and praying to find 10million naira on the floor.
Let's not even talk about how this year has been flying and the very many things that have happened here and there. And you don't want to cut yourself a bit of slack? Why?
You know, something you shouldn't be saying to people is “You just forgot me”. If you are angry that they forgot you, maybe they really should have forgotten you.
No one has been saddled with the responsibility of a “Life captain” but we've all been called to be “our brother's keeper.” If they have forgotten you, you should remember them, with no “silly intentions” of course.
It's not everytime that you stop seeing a person's WhatsApp status you can insinuate that they are hiding a baby bump. Sometimes, they've blocked you (because you are very funny and they can't deal).
Oh! Her face is fatter now. It's protein. Relax.
If there is ever a time you need to pour out more grace to people you say you love, it's “always”. That's what makes it love.
And, while you are giving out some love, be sure to extend a whole lot to yourself too. Don't be hard on yourself, never say you're not getting anywhere or getting anything done. Take in as much love as you can get and pour yourself even more (like you would, a sweet glass of wine)
On some days, I now consider taking yellow buses to work a bit of therapy because of the never ending dramas that happen.
Why is a passenger lapping a bus conductor? Why did a passenger and the bus driver exchange words nonstop all through a 45 mins trip? Why are you begging a fellow passenger for corn? You don't know about witches and wizards? Why are you seeing a movie on your laptop inside the bus? What will you do when you get home?
Everyday, on this moving yellow object, I see things. Mostly, unspeakable ones.
I'm not even complaining, and I look forward to more of the dramas. Sometimes, it helps me hold it together and reminds me that I am not falling apart, that it can be a crazy world but I can still hold my head high in the air, and you can too.🧡
Watching a movie on your laptop in a public transport is crazyy, but then it's Lagos 😂
It's good to have you back, Temmiee
